Living a Life of Faith

How far are you willing to step in faith? Would you still act and speak of your faith even if it seems like you’re hanging on a thread, with uncertainties lurking around you?

Ailene Tumabaga of Caloocan discovered that faith does not require the blabbing and bragging of it. It’s actually “walking” by faith that taps on heaven’s gates to bring about God’s brimming blessings and unexpected miracles.

Faith in the Unseen
Ailene, a high school teacher, is a long-time viewer of The 700 Club Asia. One of the important lessons she learned from the show is the principle of sowing and reaping.

“Watching the show really strengthens my faith, especially in times of financial testing. Giving to CBN Asia is one of my faith exercises,” she said.

Her husband is an OFW, and the money he sends home is usually just enough, or short at times, for their basic needs and expenses. Still, Ailene remains faithful in her giving.

One time, she found herself short of 16,000 pesos. The budget she allotted was way under their expenses and the bills she had to pay.

Yet despite her lack, Ailene exercised her faith and fulfilled her monthly pledge to The 700 Club.

Product of Faith
“While thinking about the deficit, I watched The 700 Club Asia. I cried so hard while praying with the hosts,” Ailene shared. “With an expectant heart, I asked God to show Himself strong in my situation. And He immediately did! ”

A few minutes after praying, Ailene’s bestfriend suddenly asked her to go online so they could talk via video chat.

“I was so surprised when she contacted me. We haven’t had a lot of communicating since she moved to Germany,” she said. “My best friend knew that I had been crying. After I confided to her, she immediately gave me the instructions on how to claim an overseas remittance!”

Ailene added, “She gave me 16,000 pesos and told me it’s a gift and not a debt. And I was not even asking financial help from her. I knew that moment that God answered my prayer. It was so amazing!”

Faith That Heals
It was also Ailene’s faith that led to her son’s miraculous healing from an ear infection. The doctor said an operation would have to be done to prevent the infection from spreading. She was told the procedure would cost her 50,000 pesos, and Ailene knew she just couldn’t afford it.

“While the doctor was explaining to me the details, I was silently praying. I know there’s nothing too difficult for God and He can heal my boy without the expensive surgery,” she said confidently.

As per her usual night routine, Ailene turned on the TV and tuned in to The 700 Club Asia. “Suddenly I heard Peter Kairuz pray for a boy with an ear infection. I claimed my son’s healing right away!”

When they returned to the hospital, they couldn’t believe the doctor’s good news. Her son’s infection was gone and there was no more need to undergo an operation.

“I was overwhelmed with joy because once again, God proved how mighty He is. Not once did my faith disappoint me. Truly, we live by faith and not by sight,” Ailene said. | by Deb Bataller, CBN Asia

The English Teacher. Stress, Inspirations, and Bloopers

“Any reservations Sir?”

“Yeah, under the name of Mr.  Amoyuck.”

“Alright, sir, here is the key to your Penthouse suite.”

“Ah, penthouse, saang floor yun? Ay Shunga etoh.

——

“Anong klaseng serbisyo meron kayo?

“Enjoy your stay, ma’am, bangungutin ka sana.” (Just kidding.)

Paano ba ako naging guro?

Eh ‘di nag-apply.  Isang taon na akong nagtatrabaho bilang ESL Teacher o mas masarap sabihing British and Standard American Accent Coach for Chinese and Koreans. Sosyal ba? Special account ang hawak namin, we teach kids ages ranging from 4 to 18 years old.

The following are our burdens of, shall I say, bloopers.

Teacher: How are you feeling this beautiful Friday?

Student: How are you feeling this beautiful Friday?

Teacher:  I mean, are you fine?

Student: I mean, are you fine?

Teacher: Oh honey, please do not repeat the sentence. It is a question for you.

Student:  ah… It is a question for you.

___________________________________________________________

Teacher: Can you please make a sentence using the word book?

Student: I love reading book.

Teacher: Very good! Make another sentence.

Student: Another book.

Gusto ko na magtumbling, hahah

___________________________________________________________

Teacher: The title of our lesson for tonight is, “Molly’s Victory”. Do you know what  the word ‘victory’    mean?

Student: Yes.

Teacher: Great! What does it mean?

Student: Twilight vampire.

Oh huh?   Sorry, Kilala niya si Victoria.

__________________________________________________________

Teacher: What is your favorite animal?

Student: My dad.  (ang sweet naman)

bulabog, sa zoo siguro nakatira to

______________________________________________

Expect the unexpected. Lesson n’yo is about Sports game, tapos magtatanong siya nang ganito:

Student: Teacher, why barbecue has stick?  Sobrang relevant ng tanong eh noh

Teacher: at dahil natural akong mapamaraan “Oh that is a brilliant  question, I would love to answer that, but I’m afraid our time is running out, and that will be your assignment. “

Student: Teacher, what is the world’s second anti-dandruff shampoo?

Teacher: I really don’t know.

_______________________________________________________________________

May iba naman talagang ayaw magsalita. Naubos lahat ng shakra powers mo sa kakarepeat after me, pero  sasagot lang sila ng ‘YES”. Ang sarap ilublob sa tubig, di ba.

Teacher: Did you go to your academy class today?

Student: Yes. Maayos ang sagot sa simula

Teacher:  What time did you finish all your classes?

Student: Yes. Sabi ko sa yo eh

Teacher:  Are you an idiot?

Student: Yes. Haha jowk lng toh naman

Kung ayaw mag.salita, pakantahin mo.

Teacher: Today, I am going to teach you a new song. The title is Ba baa black sheep.

Student: Ba baa black sheep?

Teacher: No, super bass!

try natin

——————————————————————————————————————-

Weakness nila ang R and L consonant sounds.

Student: Teacher, I have good news.

Teacher: Wonderful, may I know what the news is?

Student: I am now excellent in my R and L sounds.

Teacher: Really,  bring it on.

Student: Ludolf the led nose leindeer have vely shiny nose.

palakpakan may kasamang sigawan at ipasok sa banga.

——————————————————————————————————————–

Akala niya siguro hindi ako nag-aral ng logic and Philosophy major in stupidity.

Teacher: (lesson about email) Do you have an email?

Student: of course! What you think of me.? Aba sumasagot

Teacher:  What is letter “E” stands for in the word email?

Student:  enternational.

Student: Teacher, do you eat apple?

Teacher: sure

Student: You know what, in America, only donkeys eat apple.

Teacher: Lee, do you eat banana?

Student:  Yes, teacher.

Teacher: You know what, in the Philippines, only monkeys eat banana.

Basag!  Oh sige, mgtanong ka pa haha.

———————————————————————————————————————

Ng.aadd sila ng residual ‘e’ sound at the end of the word.

Teacher: What is your favorite fruit?

Student:  I like orangee

Teacher: How did you spend your Sunday?

Student: I went to churchee.

———————————————————————————————————————

Teacher: How’s your day going so far?

Student: My mother fire my grandmother.

Teacher: Oh my! Why? What happened? (I thought there was a shooting incident)

Student: My grandma is dead that’s why my mother fire her.

Teacher:  Ah got it, you mean cremation?

Student:  oh yes my grandma cremated.

Diyos ko po.

 Eto pa.

Teacher:  What did you do last weekend?

Student: I drive my car to the pool?

Teacher: Huh? Is that how you wash your car?

Student: ah no, we had swimming not the car.

————————————————————————————————————————

It has been 5 minutes and your client still doesn’t want to talk.

Teacher:  Can you say hello?

Student: HELLO!!! Pasigaw pa yan, very touching.

Teacher: Wow, you have beautiful voice! (Exaggerated) I love it! Why don’t you talk much so I could hear your amazing voice more.

Student: Really, teacher? Thank you.

——————————————————————————————————————————

Blow, blow, blow, blow your phone, gently down the stream. Angrily, angrily, angrily, angrily, my life is a stupid  dream.

Teacher: How’s the weather like in your country?

Student: affuuuuuuh!!! Affuuuuhhh!

Teacher: Ang sarap mag-drop call. Please, sweety, do not blow the mic, it’s very annoying.

Student: affuuuuuuh!!! Affuuuuhhh!

Teacher: Well it seems, you are not interested to study our lesson today. We will just play a game instead. (that captures her attention)

Student: What game????

Teacher: Blowing game! I want you to blow the microphone as long as you could.

Student: affuuhhh!

Teacher:  one more time!

Student: affuuhhhh……affuuuuuuuuuuhhh!!

Teacher: Harder! Release more air! Come on!

Student: affuuhhh!… affuuhhh!!!!!!!!! affuuhhh!………………………..1 minute natahimik siya.

Teacher: Are you still on the line?

Student: Wheew! I am tired.

Oh ayan, sige, magblow ka pa,’ langhiya toh.

—————————————————————————————————————————

Para sa mga students under basic level. Speak slowly.

Teacher: How……..3sec……are….5sec….you……? haha pati question mark kasama.

Student: huh?

Teacher: Are……..5sec….you….6sec…..doing……..…..10sec….good?

Student: I don’t know!

Teacher: Let us just start our lesson. Tangna neto.

—————————————————————————————————

Student: Teacher, why do you talk so fast?

Teacher: and why do you listen so slow? Adik toh

Teacher: What did you have in your dinner?

Student: I milk myself.

Teacher: (wag kang mag-isip ng iba, icorrect mo na lang siya) It is better to say it this way, I drank milk.

———————————————————————————————-

Sige lang, make many sentences as you can. I’m always listening. If you commit mistakes, I will help you to make it right, make it better.

There were some instances that you tend to experience vocabulary crisis. Paano mo ba naman kasi i-explain ang salitang “frown” sa isang 4 years old over the phone na walang alam sabihin kundi YES or No lang. Nakaka-disorient. pare.

(Aru, may plano? Hehe) Dito kasi nasusubok yung pagging effective teacher mo.

Before I was transferred to this account, I used to handle adult clients ages ranging from 18 to 55 years old. I had a student. She is a watch designer in Timex.  She asked me once “Did you study in LA or in Cambridge?”

“Nope,” I said. “How come you sound like a real American? How come you speak English very well?”

I just said, ”Because I am a Filipino. I am not a product of any expensive University; I haven’t been in states or in London.”

Perhaps one of the huge reasons why I get inspired in teaching is to see the perseverance of my students.

If the child is not learning the way you are teaching, then you must teach in the way the child learns. For me, teaching is not just a two-way process. It is not just about imparting knowledge. It is all about UNDERSTANDING, you have to put yourself under your student while standing beside him.

Kaya sa lahat ng mga ESL Teachers, I salute you guys! Keep rockin’.

Minsan may Isang Puta - Rated SPG

Nagkagusto at naakit.

May datung pa!

May nanghihinayang, namumuhi at naaawa.

Nag-aambisyon kami at nangangarap. Ayun, may mga anak ako na nasa Japan, Hong Kong, Saudi. Yung iba nag-US, Canada, Europe.

Tama man o mali.

May malasakit man, nahihilaw pa.

Thoughts on The Amazing Spider-Man

To those of you who haven’t watched it I suggest you watch it in 3D, because I can’t imagine having watched it any other way. I’m not really a 3D person myself, but this is probably the first time where watching a movie in 3D has enhanced my movie going experience.
|| WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD||
I honestly think that The Amazing Spider-Man, was, well - amazing.
Andrew Garfield completely blew me away as Peter Parker - and no, it’s not just because I’m an Andrew Garfield fangirl. To be honest, I was one of the people who were a little worried that Andrew couldn’t deliver what the fans wanted. It was not his acting I was worried about (he had already proven his acting abilities in The Social Network), but I was more concerned if he could meet the expectations that his predecessor Tobey Maguire had left for him. Fortunately, Andrew exceeded expectations.
I had loved Tobey Maguire in the old Spiderman movies, but after seeing Andrew play the part, the old Peter Parker seemed somewhat, angsty. Andrew Garfield’s take on Spiderman seemed more genuine and real, and he seemed like an all around nice guy.. He made Peter Parker a more relatable character and unlike the old films, this time they went further into his back story to give his character more depth. Peter Parker was more intelligent and witty, and I loved how they stay true to the comics and let Peter create web-shooters, instead of the organic webshooters from the earlier films.
Emma Stone was a brilliant Gwen Stacy. She made a more interesting and much better romantic interest than Kirstyn Dunst did in the earlier movies. Emma’s sense of humor really played well with the character and unlike Dunst’s portrayal of Mary-Jane, Gwen was smart and could actually do something productive. Emma and Andrew had a lot of chemistry (well they are dating in real life), and they seem a much better pairing than Kirsten and Tobey.
Overall, it was an awesome movie. The casting for all the characters was perfect and each character was so real. The Amazing Spider-Man was filled with more emotion than its predecessor and it was filled with brilliant action sequences and script-writing. I was a little skeptical about the reboot before I watched it, but now, I wouldn’t trade it for anything else. I would put this as one of my favorite movies of the year, alongside The Avengers. I’m really looking forward to the new Spiderman installment. :D
Favorite Quote:
At the end of the movie after Gwen’s father Police Captain George Stacy dies and asks Peter to stay away from Gwen to protect her. “The ones closest to you are the ones who get hurt the most.
Peter walks in late to class and sits behind Gwen, who is still upset that she and Peter won’t be able to be together.
Peter:  I’m sorry it won’t happen again
Teacher: Don’t make promises you can’t keep Parker
Peter: *leans closer to Gwen* But those are the best kind of promises. *sly grin*
*Gwen smiles as he says this*

Rated SPG!

A town in Canton is now on trend taking baby herbal soup to increase health and sexual performance / stamina. The cost in China currency = approx $4000. A factory manager was interviewed and he testified that it is effective because he is a frequent customer. It is a delicacy whereby expensive herbs are added to boil the baby with chicken meat for 8 hours boiling / steaming. He pointed to his second wife next to him, who is 19 (he is 62), and testified that they have sex everyday. After waiting for a couple of weeks, he took this reporter to the restaurant when he was informed by restaurant manager that the spare rib soup (local code for baby soup) was now available. This time, it was a couple who have 2 daughters and this 3rd one was confirmed to be a daughter again. So the couple aborted the baby which was 5 months old. Those babies close to be born and die naturally costs 2000 in China currency. Those aborted ones cost a few hundreds in China currency. Those couples who did not want to sell dead babies, placentas can be accepted also for couple of hundreds. The reporter making comment that is this the problem arise from Chinese being taking too much attention in health or is the backfire when China introduced one child in a family policy (since majority prefers to have male babies and those poorer families need ended up selling their female babies.)

Being A Man: Dealing With Rejection

I have a confession. Before I was married, I was an ambiguous coffee date-aholic.

I looked for any excuse to invite a pretty girl out to coffee. A few hours at Starbucks is sort of a date, but not really. Not if she doesn’t want it to be. Or I don’t want it to be. It’s all very complicated.

Growing up, I didn’t have a lot of confidence. I thought rejection was the absolute worst thing that could happen to me.

So I found ways to protect myself at all costs.

As I got older, my safe place became the coffee date. I liked that I could call it a date if needed. Otherwise it was just “hanging out”. There really are rules to this, trust me.

As we discussed God, philosophy, dreams and ambitions, I was able to size up a potential spouse. Without actually taking a risk, I could figure out if she liked me. And if I did think she liked me, I could figure out if I liked her. If I didn’t like her, I just wouldn’t ask her to coffee again.

If there was chemistry, I knew the inevitable would happen at some point. But I was going to do everything in my power to minimize the risk of rejection. I had it all figured out.

Until the coffee date plan backfired on me.

I met my match in ambiguity. I was sure she liked me. We had so much in common. But she told me she had just gotten out of a relationship and so I respected that. I backed off. But she didn’t say she wasn’t interested. So like any insecure guy, I held on to hope without forcing the issue.

I continued to build a friendship with her, all the while my interest grew. I was just waiting for my opportunity. She was bound to fall in love with me. How could she resist my ambiguous advances?

This went on for a whole year. Seriously, that’s how long we’ll hold on to hope, ladies.

I couldn’t take it anymore. I told her that we needed to talk. And yes, I took her to Starbucks.

It was time to put ambiguity aside and put my heart on the line. I declared to her my feelings. What was possibly uncertain, I now made crystal clear. My heart couldn’t take the indecision any longer. It finally hurt more not to know than to risk rejection.

So I asked her if there was any hope for us.

I could tell she was uncomfortable. She hesitated and cleared her throat before saying the fateful words, “I think you’re a great guy but…”

I knew what she was going to say, even though she would likely have preferred to jump off a cliff than to say the rest. I breathed in deeply and waited. There was way too much ambiguity over the past year for me to walk away with any inkling of doubt.

I’m not sure what was more painful, her categorical rejection or watching her squirm as she took 5 minutes to finally get it out. It was an especially awkward moment.

In retrospect, the rejection wasn’t as bad as I imagined it would be. But it would have been a lot easier if I was clear and direct in my approach from the beginning.

The momentary sting of rejection will save you lifetime of wondering.

That day I learned that being a man means taking risks. It means facing fear and conflict with courage. It means finding redemption, even in failure.

Years later, I found the woman I was determined to pursue. There was no beating around the bush. By the second time we spoke on the phone, I told her that I wasn’t interested in being her friend. I told her that I was after her heart.

And 8 months later, I married her.

My Big Winner!

“Two heads are better than one.” (John Heywood)
It is fun seeing the twins together on TV. Seeing them communicating with each other brings me good vibes, particularly when they are talking really fast and still manage to understand one another. I also love how they get along with the rest of the housemates (reason why they’ve never been nominated like ever…) and how they carry their personality. Who would never have thought that these two can bring history in PBB, being a 2-in-1 housemate and possibly, Big Winners? Go go go Doble Diba!!
I’m glad that these two were back together again. They are better together than separated.

"A REAL FRIEND IS ONE WHO WALKS IN WHEN
THE REST OF THE WORLD WALKS OUT

Don't Quit

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

10 Things I Want To Tell Single Men

1. The little things you do exclusively for one woman has a great tendency to pile up into a GIGANTIC    assumption. In a woman’s mind, 1+1=6!

2. Real men are vanguards of purity. Sex is a package and it starts with a kiss.

3. Holding a woman’s hand for 3 seconds can create fireworks in a woman’s heart.

4. One way of turning a woman off is confusing her. Confusing meaning, unintentionally doing things for no reason that leads to bursts of unnecessary emotions.

5. In pursuing, CLARITY is the best policy! Be clear about your intentions and visions.

6. Godly women are attracted to Godly men.
6.a. In the same way that Godly men are attracted to Godly women.

7. You won’t go wrong if you avoid telling women “you look tired.”

8. Don’t go for premature undefined relationships. Don’t give stuffed toys, chocolates and sorts of gifts that are misleading.

9. If you plan to pursue a woman, ask her out personally and properly, somewhere in between casual and formal depending on your personality rather than just texting “labas tayo?”

10. The constant-textmates-24/7 syndrome is prevalent among men who may not be willing to step out in faith for a Godly relationship. The textmate-but-not-talking-to-you-personally syndrome is also prevalent.
